Storing Cannabis for Safety & Freshness

  • Buy your cannabis in child-safe containers and keep out of reach of children and pets
  • Dried cannabis should be kept in a cool, dry location
  • Most cannabis oil can be stored at room temperature

Your cannabis should only be packaged in child-safe containers and it is the law that it be clearly labelled with the date it was packaged and its “best before” date. Additionally, you should store it securely for the added safety of under-aged persons and pets in your home.

If a child ingests cannabis, contact emergency services right away. Pets should also receive immediate medical attention if they consume.

Safe Storage of Cannabis

Dried Cannabis

Store in a cool location and in an airtight container, away from moisture, and light [light can reduce potency]. Do not store in your fridge or freezer. It’s always best to keep your cannabis locked, properly labelled and far out of reach. If stored properly, dried cannabis should maintain its properties for 12 months [packaging will contain details].

Cannabis Oils

Oils can generally be stored at room temperatures and some can be refrigerated follow the label for instructions. When stored at room temperature, oils should be kept in airtight opaque glass containers to protect from light and oxygen. If stored in a fridge, be sure they are clearly marked. Cannabis oil extracts should be safe to consume for 1-2 years if stored in the dark at room temperature [packaging will contain details].
